## infrared

https://doi.org/10.1351/goldbook.IT07399
Region of the electromagnetic spectrum extending from $$780\ \text{nm}$$ to about $$20\,000\ \text{nm}$$.
According to the CIE, the range between $$780\ \text{nm}$$ and $$1\ \text{mm}$$ is subdivided into:
IR-A $$780$$–$$1400\ \text{nm}$$
IR-B $$1.4$$–$$3\ \unicode[times]{x3BC}\text{m}$$
IR-C $$3\ \unicode[times]{x3BC}\text{m}$$–$$1\ \text{mm}$$
Note:
This is the @W06659@ region in which @A00036@ by a molecular entity causes excitation of its vibrational, rotational, and bending modes.
