## sedimentation potential difference (sedimentation potential)

Synonym: Dorn effect
https://doi.org/10.1351/goldbook.S05538
The potential difference $$E_{\mathrm{sed}}$$ or $$E$$ at zero current caused by the @S05534@ of particles in the field of gravity or in a centrifuge, between two identical electrodes at different levels (or at different distances from the centre of rotation). $$E$$ is positive if the lower (peripheral) electrode is negative. This is also called the Dorn effect.
